José Mourinho described a happy Real Madrid dressing room after the team recorded an eight-straight victory on Saturday, before joking that his players had celebrated with "horrible music."

After Federico Valverde opened the scoring, Arda Güler notched his third goal in five matches before adding a late assist for Kylian Mbappé as Madrid cruised to a 3-0 win at Valencia.

After a rocky start upon Mourinho's return for a second spell in charge this season, Madrid are now level on points with Barcelona at the top of LaLiga ahead of the champions' clash at Atlético Madrid on Sunday.

Madrid have won all eight games since a loss at Atlético on Sept. 20.

"What makes me happy is that we've never had chaos; we've always been calm," Mourinho said in his news conference when asked about the eight game winning run.

"We understand the reasons why we lost [against Atlético] and where we could improve. I will always fight to ensure that in good times, people stay balanced. I always tell them that winning matches in a team like Real Madrid shouldn't lead to crazy joy. Winning matches at Real Madrid has to be normal.

"I see a happy dressing room, with horrible, loud music," he added with a laugh. "When we lose, we enter your chaos, which can then spread to the Madridista environment, to the fans. But in here, we're calm."

The victory also saw Mourinho move onto 97 LaLiga wins in charge of Madrid, three short of becoming only the fourth coach in the club's history to reach the century mark.

Mourinho shuffled his pack from the midweek win at AEK Athens and preferred captain Valverde at right- ack to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who watched from the bench.

And Valverde opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a low strike into the bottom corner. Jude Bellingham set up Turkish attacker Güler, who was starting again in place of the suspended Vinícius Júnior, to double the lead eight minutes later.

A third goal evaded Madrid for large periods of the second half, but Mbappé clinched the points with his 17th goal of the season with 15 minutes left.

Second-from-bottom Valencia ended with 10 men after José Gayà was sent off late on.

Madrid now have to wait two weeks before returning to action at home to Celta Vigo, due to the international break.

Mourinho expressed concern about the condition of his players before heading away with their national teams.

"It worries me, because if the players stayed with me and my staff we would give very special attention to recovering them," he said. "But they go to their national teams.

"I have never coached a national side, but you can imagine that their coaches want to work, and these people can't work now. They need to rest. They need a lot of attention in their recovery."
