Christian Pulisic scored as AC Milan bounced back from a shock Europa League defeat with a 2-1 victory away at Genoa on Sunday.
Alphadjo Cissè opened the scoring before United States star Pulisic notched his third goal in his last three Serie A starts just six minutes later.
Mikael Egill Ellertsson scored a late consolation for Genoa, who drop to 13th. Milan, meanwhile, are up to fourth.
Ruben Amorim's side remain unpredictable, having fallen to a defeat at Bologna, before beating rivals Inter Milan, and then losing to Ferencvaros in the Europa League.
"If we have all the players available, we will be better not just in Serie A, but also in Europe," Amorim said afterwards. "This cycle of games was hard for us because of everything that happened, but I can say that if we are competitive, we can win any game in the league.
"So let's focus on that and go day by day."
The opening goal owed to Milan's harrying out of possession. The ball was recovered in the Genoa half before Adrien Rabiot rolled it across for Cisse, who finished neatly into the corner.
The second also came from winning the ball high upfield. Goncalo Ramos took possession, drove on and picked out Pulisic with a neat lay-off, and the USMNT international coolly made it 2-0.
Milan will now hope their injury crisis will solve itself during the international break.
"It's about the mentality. When you play for Milan, there is no day off," Amorim added. "You cannot switch off on Thursday the way we did and then switch back on come Sunday. That is not possible. It's not going to work."
